Are You A Helicopter Mom?

Are you a helicopter mom? Okay, I must admit, that at times I am a helicopter mom. When my daughter comes home and is upset about someone not being nice to her on the playground, I wish I could click my heels, become a first-grader again and march up to school with my new BFF, my daughter, by my side just to give her adversary a tongue lashing...better yet, a beat-down!! When she doesn't zipper her coat like I've asked a hundred times and she finally gets a cold and can't make it to the best 7-year-old birthday party of the year, my heartbreaks but, I am equally frustrated that my words fell on deaf ears. However, I am reminded of an old saying that my one of my sister-girlfriend's Jamaican born mother would tell us after we repeatedly refused to take her advice in college, "If they cannot hear, they must feel." What is your take on in it mommies?
