Getting Your Side Hustle On...

Well before I adopted the “golden rule” of how important it is to have multiple streams of income because YOU NEVER KNOW what can happen, I have always wanted my own business. Not only because I enjoy being the boss but, at the end of the day it’s mine. One hundred percent of my energy and the net profits are benefiting my loved ones. I understand that those of us who have wonderful stock options and great salaries are still able to create generational wealth for our children by maintaining our day jobs. However, there is nothing more fulfilling than knowing you created something from the ground up that you can pass on to loved ones and that no one can downsize you from. At the end of the day the buck stops with you. That may seem like a lot of pressure but the reward on the other side could be complete satisfaction, flexibility and peace of mind.

There are so many mothers out there that have their own business for one reason or another and we want you to share with us what that business is. Whether your goal is to keep your full-time job and have peace of mind knowing you can quit any day because you have additional streams of income or you just want more flexibility with your life, reply to this blog and give your business a shout-out and tell us what motivated you to start your own business.

Much me Love,
Monique Pryor

    Hi Monique!

I have an event Planning boutique. It is called Weddings Done Wright LLC. My husband and I started it two years ago and are very excited. The idea came to us after being asked to help out on many friends and family's events. Did I mention that my husband is an amatuer photographer? And I have been involved in planning reunions, weddings and other events for years. We thought "hey, this is a great business. We can do what we love and do it around our schedule". We really get joy out of seeing the vision come to life. That's what we do we help our clients in all celebrations of life, love and home.
    Thanks,
    Tracee Wright

While working at a large scientific and medical publishing company, I volunteered to help a colleague “clean up” her manuscript for submission. When she decided to self-publish her novel, I became the book’s developmental editor. My willingness to help my colleague resulted in additional opportunities: a word-of-mouth referral is the best type of advertising there is!

I am finally doing what I love—working with words and helping others to fulfill their writing and publishing dreams!

I have been involved in real estate appraising for over 20 years. I am a licensed appraiser and I managed an appraisal department for 17 years.I grew that division from a regional business to a nationwide business( for someone else). One day while on a parade float; I was discussing my employment issues with my "now" business partner. A few days later he contacted me with a business proposal and many months later entered into a LLC with him and another partner. They are both slient partners and no nothing about my industry. It was a great leap of faith; I had been praying for God to place me where he wanted me to be.Of course fear tried to rear it's ugly head but I pushed foward; looking beyond the fear. My husband, family and friends were very supportive and that helped too. I had grown tired of my position and wanted more control of my life and destiny. It has been 15 months and I can, say it is one of the best moves I have ever made. It is hard work and I am wearing many hats but I love it! I am also a councilwoman (my side-gig) in my town and serve on the NJ Real Estate regulatory board and everything has fallen into place. I didn't want to look back on life with regret; that I had allowed fear to cripple my opportunity or the experience of owning my own business. Be Blessed!

What...you're talking to the Queen-of-Gettin' Her-Hustle-On! I've been out of the corp. world now for 8 years and I don't miss it one bit! I love being at home & seeing my daughter & son as they grow. They are in school now (praise God!)
My husband & I are a part of a team called the Executive Marketing Group (EMG) which spans all over the US. We help people make an additional stream of income from home. Our team has made over $6 million from home in the last 4 years! Praise God!!

I have always loved to listen to mother's stories, and when I became a mother for the first time 8 years ago, listening, sharing, and connecting with other moms through their stories kept me sane and supported. I launched a magazine last year called "Motherwords" which is a way for mothers to connect with each other through the pages of a magazine. It is the only magazine written exclusively by and for mothers, and a way for us to all learn and love from one another as we take this journey of motherhood together. I believe the old adage that, "it takes a village" is true, and this magazine is the way to hear what the village is, and what it has to say. I hope you will submit your stories about motherhood to submissions@motherwords.com and read the magazine. I believe in the power of women, and the power of mothers coming together as a collective force. Every mother is us, we are every mother whether we are rich, poor, educated, or not, and no matter the color of our skin. Within each of us beats the heart of a mother, and no heart beats stronger. Every mother has a story, what's yours?

I started my business, 10 til 2, 5 years ago with three other moms because we saw the need for a balance between our mom time and our career time. I've never been happier. It takes some juggling (like when the football coach schedules practice for my 7 yr old at 3:30 3 days a week!) but with a supportive spouse and lots of carpooling we make it work for everyone. It's all about balance.
